Horticultural Kettering Loam 1000kg Bulk Bag

High quality Kettering loam soil screened to 3mm and sterilised. Kettering loam is ideal for farmers, gardeners and landscapers because of its ability to retain water and nutrients. 

This Kettering loam soil has a higher than usual clay content, making it ideal for greenhouse and indoor planting. The clay makes up 24% of the loam. 

Specially designed for greenhouse and indoor use, this loam is heat treated to a temperature where it dries the loam and removes a large amount of unwanted weed seed that is contained within the loam. 

Each bag of loam soil contains approx. 1000kgs with approx. 700kgs of that being topsoil.

The bag the loam will be delivered in is 85cm x 85cm x 85cm.

The loam may contain small pebbles and stones, with the larger stones removed. Some stones remaining in loam is important as this can aid with drainage, soil aeration and lessen the effects of topsoil erosion.

What is loam? 

Loam is a soil that is composed of mainly soil, with some clay and silt. Generally, loam contains more nutrients and water than standard soil, meaning that it is better for growing flowers and vegetables. Loam also has better drainage, meaning that it is less prone to flooding.
